Introduction in Counselling Skills

KEY INFORMATION

Duration: 4 training days / part-time
Hours: 12 guided learning hours (GLH)

Minimum age:18 years


Course Day: Monday 9.30-12.30pm, Commencing 
Course Day: Saturday 10.00 – 3.00pm, Commencing

COURSE RECOGNITION

The programme consists of 12 ‘Guided Learning Hours’ and students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate and at the end of this course you will be in a better position to decide whether you’d like to progress into counselling training or not.  The next step would be joining the CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills.

ATTENDANCE

To successfully complete the course, you will need to complete all course work and have a minimum attendance of 90% at all training days.

Entry requirements

There is no previous experience required, however, candidates will be required to undertake an assessment to assess their suitability.

Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

Qualification level: Level 2
Duration: 22  training days / part-time
Hours: 90 guided learning hours (GLH)

Minimum age:18 years


Course day: Tuesday 10.00-13.00pm, Commencing 25th February 2025 (Face to Face)
Course eve: Tuesday 6.00 - 9.00pm, Commencing 25th February 2025  (Remote Learning/Zoom)

The programme consists of 90 ‘Guided Learning Hours’ and students who successfully complete this course will receive a qualification widely accepted.

ATTENDANCE

To successfully complete the course, you will need to pass all assignments (resubmissions are allowed), complete all course work and have a minimum attendance of 85% at all lectures and training days.

There is no previous experience required, however, candidates will be required to undertake an assessment to assess their suitability.

ASSESSMENT 

Trainer assessed completed portfolio, which is externally verified by the CPCAB and a written assessment which externally assessed.

Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies

KEY INFORMATION

Qualification level: Level 3
Duration: 34 training days / part-time
Hours: 90 guided learning hours (GLH)

Minimum age:19 years

Course day: 34 weeks - Wednesday 10.00am -1.00pm, Commencing 8th January 25 (Face to Face)

Course eve: 34 weeks - Wednesday 6.00 - 9.00pm, Commencing  8th January 25 (Remote learning-Zoom)

COURSE RECOGNITION

The programme consists of 90 ‘Guided Learning Hours’ and students who successfully complete this course will receive a qualification widely accepted.

The certificate course is a Level 3 training accredited with CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body).

Entry requirements

You must have undertaken counselling skills training, e.g. our Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent units/qualifications of at least 75 Guided Learning Hours. 

​

Students must be able to attain the academic standard required and have a good command of English (written and oral).  During an individual interview, applicants will need to demonstrate competence to study at certificate level and the willingness and capacity to develop the personal and professional qualities involved when training as a counsellor.

​

ASSESSMENT

Over the length of the course, students will need to complete regular course work, keep a number of learning journals, write a learning summary and an essay. You will also be expected to do a small research project  that is  intended to give a wider awareness into a counselling issue that is of particular interest to you the student. It is expected that students will need to invest a minimum of 5 hours of personal study for each training day involving reading, essay writing, and assignment preparation.
